For the third consecutive year, Michigan, home of the Big Three, will again be presenting the Motor City Corvette Concours. This third annual event will continue to showcase the “Best of the Best” Corvettes in the area. This year’s chosen date is September 22, 2012 and the location will be Les Stanford Chevrolet-Cadillac in Dearborn, Michigan.

Anyone familiar with the Corvette lifestyle is no doubt aware of events such as; Corvettes at Carlisle, Bloomington Gold and the National Corvette Homecoming to name but a few. Being that Michigan is the birthplace of Corvette and the home of Chevrolet and General Motors, it seemed only natural that a high caliber Corvette event be held here. Hence, the Motor City Corvette Concours was born.

While the Motor City Corvette Concours (MCCC) is sponsored and hosted by the Les Stanford dealerships, the event continues to be organized by several local Michigan Corvette clubs. The Corvette Club of Michigan, Corvette Legends Club, Flint Corvette Club, GMC Corvette Set, Rainbow Corvette Club, Team Corvette, Trend Settas Corvette Club, The V-8 Estate Corvette Club and joining the group this year is America’s Corvette Club. These groups have all banded together to promote and share their passion for the marque. The continuation of this event adds to the writing of another chapter in the glorious history that is the Corvette.

The Motor City Corvette Concours is actually three car shows in one. First feature of the event is the Concours Division of Corvettes; these cars will appear via invitation only. Second, will be an open judged “Drive & Shine” competition for all Corvette owners based on overall vehicle condition and cleanliness, combined with a National Council of Corvette Clubs (NCCC) sanctioned People’s Choice competition. Being open to all types of Corvette, from stock to custom, from mild to wild, the MCCC allows the owner to showcase a car that is special to him or her. The primary emphasis of this end of the season gathering is on having the “Best of the Best” Corvettes featured in the invitation only Concours Class. To qualify, these Corvettes must compete in a minimum of three affiliated shows throughout the spring – summer show season. These cars will be chosen by organizers of the participating shows and then recommended to compete in the MCCC Concours division. Thirty nominees will be notified by the MCCC committee upon selection.

Working in concert with the National Corvette Museum, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, the organizers of the MCCC have developed the Arkus-Duntov Cup Trophy, named in honor of the first Corvette Chief Engineer and father of the Corvette: Zora Arkus-Duntov. Each year the overall winner’s name will be affixed to the Arkus-Duntov Cup Trophy and it will be displayed at the National Corvette Museum, adjacent to their permanent Arkus-Duntov exhibit. A unique Motor City Corvette Concours special award will also be presented to the Concours Class winner for his or her personal trophy case. All of the Concours Class entrants will receive a personalized special commemorative award for their participation. Additional trophies will be presented for the Judged Competition and People’s Choice divisions of the event. “Since the venue is the former Wooly Bully’s, we hope to harken back to the car show days of the Rock N Diner,” states Marketing Director Christine “CK” Kotila. “Our lot is huge and cruisers can park by the 2,000 square foot deck in the back, sit at a table and enjoy the view of the autos. Other cruisers that prefer their rides being showed off to passing traffic can park up front along Groesbeck and grab a seat inside and enjoy the view from our open garage doors. Either way, we can accommodate anyone’s ideals.”

To entice cruisers and guests Ditty’s in the City is offering buckets of 6 domestic bottles of beer for $10 and a 1/2 pound burger, fries, and draft special for $6.99. “Nothing on our menu is over $8.99. We aren’t trying to nickle and dime customers; we just want everyone to have fun,” states owner Brian Dittmer. “Come one, come all–classic auto not necessary.”

A DJ will be on hand playing a mix of music, including classic rock and oldies.

Since opening in late February, Ditty’s in the City has become the hot spot to dine, drink, and dance.

On September 26, 1974, on the rented Carlisle Fairgrounds, “Post War ’74″ took place. It was the very first car event promoted by the company. In a year still remembered for gas lines and inflation, nearly 600 vendors set up in more than 800 spaces, and 13,000 spectators paid the $1 admission to sample their wares.

Within a few years, the Carlisle Fairgrounds had become a mecca for collector car enthusiasts all over the world. The runaway success of what became known as Fall Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet & Car Corral led to a similar Spring event in 1977. In short order, they became complete sellouts for vendor and car sale (or “car corral”) spaces. In 1981, after renting the fairgrounds for each event, the Millers purchased the 82-acre property.

Over the years, Carlisle Events has transformed the fairgrounds to suit the needs of car show participants and visitors. Continuous improvements include paved roads, a manicured landscape and more than 10 permanent buildings. At the same time, Carlisle Events has established consumer-friendly services such as on-site bank financing, notary and title service and a wide variety of dining choices.

When Chip and Bill Miller held their first car show at the Carlisle Fairgrounds over 38 years ago, they never could have envisioned the growth and legacy of Carlisle Events.

Chip Miller, co-founder of Carlisle Events, had a favorite saying, “Life is Good.” His son Lance has carried on that tradition, and it appears he will continue to carry on a lot more at Carlisle Events with his long-time friend, Bill Miller III. In 2007, Bill Miller, Jr., announced that Lance Miller and Bill Miller III, his son, will continue in their respective families’ tradition of operating the Carlisle Events business at the Carlisle Fairgrounds.

Throughout the 38 years of existence, the Miller families continued to add specialty shows to their event seasons. Today, Carlisle Events produces eight specialty shows, plus the Spring and Fall events which also serve as the basis for the Spring and Fall Collector Car Auctions. The specialty shows include Carlisle Performance & Style, Carlisle Import & Kit Nationals, Carlisle Ford Nationals, Carlisle GM Nationals, Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, Carlisle Summer Bike Fest, Carlisle Truck Nationals, and Corvettes at Carlisle. The events bring in $97 million annually to the local economy and the spring show is the organization’s biggest draw of the year.

This is an annual Mother’s Day weekend event held at the Branch County Fairgrounds in Coldwater, Mi. We have the largest show in the area with up to 1,600 Show Cars, over 100 Show Quality Cycles, over 300 Vendors including Swap and Arts & Crafts plus over 10,000 spectators yearly. Dash plaques and goodie bags to first 500 cars. Door prizes drawn daily. Grand prize drawing Sunday @3:00pm, must be present to win. A drawing will be held to select several cars to be showcased every couple of hours. Food vendors are on site. All vendors set up on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 10am-6pm, Saturday, May 12 at 6am-8am, and Sunday, May 13 at 6am-8am. Vehicle registration begins Friday, May 11 at 4pm-6pm, Saturday, May 12 at 8am-3pm, and Sunday, May 13 at 8am-1pm.

Spectator hours are Saturday and Sunday from 8am-4pm. Muffler Rap and Open Header Contest begins at 1pm on Saturday sponsored by The Oil Place and B&M Plus. Cruise through downtown Coldwater is Saturday beginning at 4pm. The Blessing of the Bikes will be held on Sunday at 1pm.
