New app to let you know how much that classic car might be worth

Posted by Joe Lopez | Posted in news | Posted on 15-03-2011

The bidder’s anxiety at the wave of the paddle is all part of the excitement of a car auction. Finding out later that you bought a lemon is not. A new mobile app is designed to prevent buyer’s remorse.

Chubb Collector Car Insurance introduced the Classic Car Guide app on March 8. The free program is compatible with the Apple iPad, iPhone and iPod touch, while Blackberry and Android versions are in development. Leveraging Sports Car Market magazine’s database, which is searchable to 1886, the app culls valuations and model descriptions for about 4,000 different makes.

A user select the year, make and model of the car being considered, and up pops a brief description of the car, price ranges and star ratings for maintenance and resale appeal.
