2013 Orion Music + More Custom Car + Motorcycle Show

When: June 8-9, 2013

In case you haven’t heard yet, Metallica is coming to Detroit, Michigan this summer. This isn’t your normal Detroit-stop-on-tour concert; this is a two-day music festival on Detroit’s own Belle Isle. Tickets are available to the public on March 1st. General admission passes are $150 and VIP passes are $750. Click HERE for details.

The 2013 lineup:  Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rise Against, Deftones, Bassnectar, Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello, FLAG, Silversun Pickups, Foals, Tomahawk, Destroid (Excision + KJ Sawka + Downlink), The Joy Formidable, Datsik, Borgore, Japandroids, Dillon Francis, Adventure Club, 12th Planet, Death Grips, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Dirtyphonics, The Dirtbombs, DEATH, Fu Manchu, The Bronx, FIDLAR, All Shall Perish, The Orwells, BATTLECROSS and Cauldron.

Metallica’s lead singer, James Hetfield, is a custom car aficionado himself. The festival will also feature a custom car and motorcycle show during the event. In 2012 James had two of his personal custom cars on display during the show. From what we’ve read about the 2012 festival, held in Atlantic City, NJ, custom car and motorcycle owners who’s vehicles were accepted to be on display received two free weekend passes to the event. In addition to the music and hot rods, other attractions include; The Metallica Museum , The ‘Hit The Lights’ Films screenings hosted by Metallica drummer. Lars Ulrich, Kirk’s Crypt, a mini ramp for skateboard demonstrations, Ktulu’s Emporium and community interest info booth ‘My World Village’.

Dwight Knowlton looked for the perfect Father/Son (Daughter) car book once his son was born. Unable to find a suitable option, he set out to make his own. The Little Red Racing Car is a picture book story of a 1955 Maserati 300S, discovered in a barn by a son and rebuilt with his father.

Dwight has competed much of the work already. Most of the art work is compete with the final illustrations yet to come. During the month of February 2013, this project is featured on Kickstarter, a funding platform for creative projects.

The goal is $25,000 by February 28th. Did we mention this project will also benefit the Phoenix Children’s Hospital?
