Michigan weather and a lack of volunteers have forced organizers of the Pottsville Cruise to scale things back to a one-day-only event according to Stephen Pytak of the Republican Herald. Donations to the Pottsville Lions Charities dropped considerably in 2011.
The 19th annual Great Pottsville Cruise, organized by the Pottsville Lions Club, will be held Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, with a rain date of Sunday, Aug. 12, 2012. The new Great Pottsville Cruise will focus on downtown Pottsville and the staging area will be Centre Street from Laurel Boulevard to Mahantongo Street.
The Bloomsburg annual Rod and Custom Cruise-In, usually held the same weekend, will not be held in 2012.

MotorCities Year-End Rendezvous
When: October 8, 2011 / 5pm – 8pm
Where: Automotive Hall of Fame, 21400 Oakwood Blvd. Dearborn, MI
Join MotorCities.org and celebrate the end of the car show season with their Year-End Rendezvous! They are inviting all of the volunteers, car clubs, event partners, members, and supporters to come out and enjoy one last hurrah for the season.
Not only will the event feature live entertainment, food, and tours of the Automotive Hall of Fame but at 7:00 pm the winners of the MotorCities Raffle will be pulled to see who won the grand prize of $20,000!
Haven’t purchased a raffle ticket yet? No worries, they are selling tickets the day of the show as well. One ticket is $5.00 or 3 for $10. First prize is $20,000 and 2nd-5th prize at $1,000. So don’t forget to drive your luck!
All car enthusiasts are encouraged to bring out their vehicles to the show! They will reserve priority parking for classics, cruisers, and show cars. No entry fees! All show car participants should plan to arrive by 4:30pm for set-up.

The Walter P. Chrysler Museum is hosting a workshop with the young people in your lives who are new drivers, eligible for driver’s training or are enrolled in automotive courses.
Maintaining Today’s Cars is slated for 10 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday, September 24th at the Museum, in Auburn Hills. Led by the Chrysler Academy School of Technical Training, Maintaining Today’s Cars will feature key components inside vehicles as well as under the hood and under the car. Chrysler Academy staff – the same professionals who lead the automaker’s national dealership training programs – will explain and illustrate vehicle maintenance tips and schedules that will help drivers keep vehicles in good working condition and avoid getting stranded.
Maintaining Today’s Cars will emphasize:
- changing tires and starting vehicles
- servicing various fluids and filters
- navigating dashboard gauges
- what various warning lights indicate
- handling roadside emergencies and more
Tips and techniques presented in the program’s first half will be demonstrated at hands on vehicle stations in the second half.
Admission for Maintaining Today’s Cars – including refreshments – is $10 per person in advance and $12 at the door ($8 and $10, respectively, for Museum members). 2011 Northwood University Classic Car Show
